How to use the chain Lashing?

Always:

1. Inspect chain lashing before use.

2.Calculate the lashing forces required for the chosen method of load restraint

3. Select the capacity and number of chain lashings to provide at least the calculated lashing forces.

4. Ensure the lashing points on the vehicle and/or load are of adequate strength.

5. Protect the chain lashing from small radii edges or reduce the lashing capacity in accordance with the manufacturer’s instruction.

6. Ensure the chain lashings are correctly tensioned

7. Exercise care when releasing chain lashing in case the load has become unstable since the lashing was applied.

Never:

1.Use chain lashing to lift a load

2. Knot, tie or modify chain lashings

3. Overload chain lashings

4. Use chain lashings over a sharp edge without edge protection or reducing the lashing capacity

5. Expose chain lashings to chemicals without consulting the supplier.

6. Use chain lashings which have any distorted chain links, a damaged tensioner, damaged terminal fittings or a missing ID tag.
